Jim Beck - Building Manager

After performing with several Idaho Falls theatrical groups, Jim came to ARTI during 1996. A Management and Organization graduate of Idaho State University, Jim worked in the mining equipment manufacturing industry for nine years prior his employment at the Idaho National Laboratory (23 years), where he is the Calcine Disposition Project Manager for CWI. Additionally, Jim teamed with the late Larry Eckenrode (and later Jerry Miller) to broadcast Idaho State University football and basketball over a ten year period (1973-83). A highlight of Jim’s broadcasting career included Idaho State’s upset of UCLA in the 1978 Far West Regional. Jim also served two Viet Nam campaigns aboard the U.S.S. Enterprise.

Jim’s acting credits include Lil’ Abner (Pappy), Carousel (Enoch Snow), Camelot (Pellinore), Diary of Anne Franck (Mr. Dussel), Lone Star (Ray), Murder at the Howard Johnson’s (Paul), Last of the Red Hot Lovers (Barney), The Foreigner (Charlie), Death and the Maiden (Gerardo), Jake’s Women (Jake), The Pillowman (Katurian), and others. His directing credits for ARTI include Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf, The Underpants, Dearly Departed and Lie, Cheat, and Genuflect.

Aside from acting and directing, Jim remains immersed in the management, maintenance, and renovation of the ARTI facility in his role as Building Manager, a role he has held since ARTI purchased the building in 2001.

Jim was drawn to ARTI by his wife (Beci), who is ARTI’s Artistic Director and the speech and Drama teacher at Skyline High School. Jim has a daughter (Tyler) and three sons (Zach, Jack, and Henry). An avid sports fan, Jim lives and dies with Minnesota Viking’s football and Philadelphia Phillies baseball. Jim and Beci, who are self-professed movieholics, also enjoy skiing, running, camping, and watching their son’s baseball games (Jack) and tennis matches (Henry).
